“An Eagle Eye View Of The Hunt For Trout In Idaho”

The Old Fisherman and The Frog

Posted by Eagle Eyes on May 17, 2008

The Love FrogA fisherman is 75 years old and loves to spend his golden days fishing and playing golf. He was sitting on his boat the other day, when he heard a weak voice saying, “Please, pick me up.”
He looked around and couldn’t see anyone. He thought he was dreaming when he heard the voice say again, “Please, pick me up.” He looked in the water and there, floating on the surface, was a tired-looking frog.
The man said, “Are you talking to me?”
The frog said, “Yes sir, I’m talking to you. Please pick me up. Then, kiss me and I’ll turn into the most beautiful woman you have ever seen. I’ll make sure that all your friends are envious and jealous because I will be your bride!”
The man looked at the frog for a short time, scratched his head, reached over, picked it up carefully, and placed him inside his front breast pocket.
Then the frog said angrily, “What, are you nuts? Didn’t you hear what I said? I said kiss me and I will be your beautiful bride.”
He opened his pocket, took a long look at the frog and said, “Nah, at my age I’d rather have a talking frog.”

Idaho TroutHunter “Hot Reads”

Posted by Eagle Eyes on May 8, 2008

Hot Reads Ol’ Eagle Eyes is long past due in updating our readers on the activities and great writings of some of our Idaho TroutHunter BlogBuddies. On the right hand sidebar of my blog, as you scan down the page, you will see a current list of all the great fishing and outdoor related blogs that I have linked to since beginning my blog. These guys and gals all do a great job in writing about their favorite topic of interest in relationship to the great outdoor activities we all enjoy. Ol’ Eagle Eyes is constantly on the lookout for fishing, hunting, and other outdoor related blogs of interest that I can add to my BlogBuddies list. What I am trying to accomplish here is to have a high quality resource section to my blog so that readers can locate some great reading and follow along on these blogs also. Occasionally, I will add new blogs I come across that interests me. With that in mind, I like to keep my BlogBuddies list current. So if a blog has been inactive for awhile I will delete that link. I like to keep things as fresh as possible. If you, the reader, knows of a good fishing or outdoor related blog that I have not listed, just point Ol’ Eagle Eyes in the right direction and the link will be added to the list.

At this point in time I would like to announce that I have added a “Hot Reads” link list to my blog here at Idaho TroutHunter. Note the graphic on the right sidebar located just under the video section. There you will see Ol’ Eagle Eyes bringing the “Hot Reads” links to you. These links are current BlogBuddies who have written something current that Ol’ Eagle Eyes found to be of special interest. Sometimes it might be the topic of the current blog post or it could be that I just want to draw attention to some new fishing or outdoor related bloggers. I will update this list regularly as I check in on all my blogging friends to see what they are up to.  This means that the links listed under “Hot Reads” will change as I do updated posts about current BlogBuddies writings, so I encourage everyone to continue to write great stuff. The current list has the following blogs included:

Well that does it for this post. Please take some time to check out these “Hot Reads”. Until the next “Hot Reads” post, see ya’ up around the bend.

Posted by Eagle Eyes on April 26, 2008

Ol’ Eagle Eyes and Dude are quietly sitting in a boat fishing,

chewing and drinking beer when suddenly Dude says,

‘I think I’m gonna divorce my wife - she ain’t spoke to

me in over 2 months.’

Ol‘ Eagle Eyes spits, sips his beer and says, ‘Better think it over…

……..women like that are hard to find.’

Upper Snake Sportsman Offer Youth Skills Day

Posted by Eagle Eyes on April 22, 2008

Today’s youth have lots of things that they can do with their time, probably too many things.

Traditional leisure time activities, such as fishing and hunting, are taking a backseat to Xboxes and MP3 players. There are many reasons for this shift, but the sportsmen’s groups of the Upper Snake Region have joined forces to offer youths a chance to experience a variety of outdoor activities from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 3, at Beaver Dick Park on Highway 33 outside Rexburg.

While Idaho is sportsman’s paradise, with all kids of opportunity for exciting outdoor activities like fishing, hunting, trapping and horse packing, many young people don’t know how to make the initial contact to get started.

What used to be an activity that the whole family enjoyed, such as fishing, has failed to make the jump to our youngest generation. It seems no one in the family knows how to do the activity any more, or lacks the gear, but more than likely doesn’t have the time to get out.

Sportsmen’s groups in the Upper Snake Region have taken the step to reach out to young people; they want to make sure the sporting traditions carry-on.

Registration starts at 8:30 a.m., and everyone who takes part in at least six of the mini-seminars will be entered in a drawing for a rifle. The seminars are free and will cover such topics as fishing, archery, trapping, turkey calling, boat safety, duck hunting, muzzleloading, hound hunting and horse packing.

A trailer with a portable laser shooting gallery will also be on hand for youngsters to test their skills.

Beaver Dick Park is along the banks of the Henry’s Fork and next to Idaho Fish and Game’s Cartier Slough Wildlife Management Area. Children of all ages are welcome and families are encouraged to attend. There is sure to be something for everyone, and the goal is to get more people out enjoying the great outdoors of Idaho.

For more information call Fish and Game at 208-525-7290 or through the Idaho Relay Service at 1-800-377-3529 (TDD).

Idaho TroutHunter Forum Rant!!

Posted by Eagle Eyes on April 11, 2008

I recently visited the popular BFT Forum (Big Bish Tackle) and updated my forum memberhship there. In doing so, I wanted to add the fact that I have established the Idaho TroutHunter Forum by a link in my profile which would then show at the bottom of each of my posts on the BFT Forum. My thinking was that all the fishing forum freaks would want to know that there was another forum for them to view and post on if they wish. In other words, getting the word out about the new Idaho TroutHunter Forum.

Whoa! Wait a minute there Eagle Eyes. Board Moderators were all over that at the BFT Forum. They have rules on their forum that says you cannot “advertise” or otherwise link to another forum from their site!!!

Apparently, they want exclusive rights to those members who join the BFT Forum.

Sadly, I was informed that this would not be an avenue for me to promote Idaho TroutHunter Forum. So being the kind old gentleman that I am I promptly told them what thedy could do with their forum. Geez, didn’t mean to walk on their hallowed ground.

Anyway, just to let members and future members of Idaho TroutHunter Forum know this type of approach will never be undertaken at our forum. If you want to visit another forum and you see an interesting post that you think would interest our membership here at Idaho TroutHunter Forum by all means enter the link to that forum so that our members can read it if they wish. I would suggest that you don’t do a cut and paste job as it takes up space on the forum to do so. Brief inserts are allowed to be cut and pasted.

So here is an Idaho TroutHunter “sticky” for the BFT Forum Moderators.
